Since debuting with SOD in 2018, Eimi Fukada has rapidly cemented herself as a digital-native AV star. By combining her work as an adult performer with influencer activities, she showcases a new kind of “self-branding.” Through cosmetic surgery, she has aligned her features with Western beauty ideals, while routinely sharing humor, memes, and direct fan interaction on Twitter and TikTok—often far removed from AV. This crossover style of engagement expanded her fanbase among the global MZ generation, transforming her from a simple adult actress into a fully “platform-optimized human.”

However, this kind of strategic positioning revealed a gap between her image and the core of AV performance. The AV genre demands *reality-based sexual affect* and a *physical storytelling*. In Fukada’s later works, however, it was her influencer-style persona that became more prominent. It was as if a popular YouTuber briefly dabbling in AV— the striking presence she had at her debut gradually faded away.

Her AI-like expressionlessness and minimalistic appearance enhanced her polish as a digitally refined figure, but paradoxically, it caused her to lose the “living sensation of the flesh.” While she satisfied the public’s preference for artificial beauty, she ultimately failed to deliver the “burning substance” that AV fans fundamentally crave.

Ultimately, Fukada succeeded in terms of marketability as an AV actress in the digital age, but she showed clear limitations in embodying the genre’s inherent sense of physical reality. A platform- and metrics-driven strategy turned her into a mainstream star, but it also diluted what lies at the heart of the AV genre: the narrative of the body and the moment of sensual resonance.
